a. Health Education Technician (3 Years)
b. Health Education Assistant (2 Years)
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
a. Candidates must posses 4 credit pass in WASC, G.
These must include Biology or Health science, Chemi
stry, English language, and other
subjects from (Economics, Geography, and physics).
b. Health education assistant candidates must posse
s’ five passes either in WASC, G.C.E. or
NECO at not more than 2 sittings. These must includ
e Biology or Health science, plus
three other relevant science subjects. Religious an
d other language subjects are not
relevant.
c. Holders of Health Education Assistant certificat
e with 2 years post qualification experience
duration: 2 years (two academic sessions) for those
with (a) above qualification.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
At the end of the programme, the students in the d
epartment should be able to:
a. Organize and manage health education programme i
n the community.
b. Use effective teaching and learning methods in d
isseminating health education message.
c. Construct, organize and use teaching/learning ai
ds in health educating the public.
d. Create awareness through information, education
or contemporary health issues in the
community.
e. Educate the public on the right of the consumer
and their protection in line with the
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration an
d Control (NAFDAC) and National
Drug Law Enforcement Agent (NDLEA) direction.
PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAMME
The philosophy of the programme is motivated by the
need to produce middle Health Manpower in line
with the PHC programmes to create awareness, educat
e and enlighten the public on contemporary
health issues and the usage of appropriate methods
and aids in health educating the community and the
public at large
