1. JAMB Registrar Clarifies Board's Role in University Admissions
Speaking at the maiden Rite Foods National Academic Excellence Awards in Lagos, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, addressed a widespread public misconception. He emphasized that JAMB is fundamentally an educational assessment and admission agency, rather than a traditional examination body like WAEC or NECO.
Prof. Oloyede cautioned candidates and parents against an unhealthy obsession with exceptionally high UTME scores. He warned that a high score alone does not guarantee admission if a candidate fails to meet specific institutional criteria or possesses incorrect O'Level subject combinations.
2. N35 Million Scholarship Awarded to Top 2026 UTME Candidates
In a massive boost for educational excellence, Rite Foods Limited, in partnership with JAMB, has awarded N35 million in scholarships to seven of the highest-performing undergraduate candidates from the 2026 UTME cycle.
The scholarship rewards top-scoring students across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with a dedicated slot allocated to a candidate from the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) to support students with special needs.
3. 2026 Original UTME Result Slip Printing Now Active
The portal for printing the original 2026 UTME result slips is officially live. Candidates who need their official, stamped result slips for upcoming institutional screenings can now access and download them directly via their validated JAMB profiles.
4. 2026 Post-UTME Screening Begins: UNILAG, UNIOSUN, and Others Open Portals
Following the conclusion of the 2026 mop-up exams and the establishment of national minimum benchmarks (150 for universities/nursing and 100 for polytechnics), major tertiary institutions have opened their screening portals:
UNILAG Post-UTME Registration: Online registration for the University of Lagos runs from June 15 to July 8, 2026. The UNILAG online aptitude test is scheduled for July 27–31, 2026. A minimum UTME score of 200 is required.
UNIOSUN Post-UTME Registration: Osun State University has opened its admission portal for candidates meeting departmental cut-off marks.
Critical Step: Action Required on JAMB CAPS Portal
Important Notice for All Candidates: To ensure your admission is processed, you must upload your O'Level (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results to the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) immediately. Tertiary institutions will automatically disqualify candidates with missing O'Level data on the CAPS portal.
