Oloyede Clarifies: "JAMB is an Admission Agency, Not an Examination Body

 Speaking at the maiden Rite Foods National Academic Excellence Awards in Lagos, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede stressed that the public heavily misunderstands the board's core mandate. He clarified that while JAMB conducts exams, it is an educational assessment and admission agency, unlike WAEC or NECO, which are traditional examination bodies.

Oloyede warned against the obsession with high UTME scores alone, noting that a high score does not guarantee admission if a candidate lacks the required subject combinations or institutional qualifications.
